inside english is a publication of the English Council of California Two-Year Colleges (ECCTYC), a professional organization whose membership includes departments of English and their faculty in all public and private two-year colleges in California, including the 112 state community colleges. ECCTYC also represents California two-year college English faculty at the national level as the Pacific Coast Region in the Two-Year College English Association. TYCA is part of the College Section of the National Council of Teachers of English.
The purpose of ECCTYC is to advance English teaching and learning in the two-year college by providing opportunities for the exchange of discipline information, promoting professional interaction and growth among its members, and articulating concerns of the discipline to professional and policy-making groups.
inside english supports ECCTYC’s goals by publishing articles focused on teaching writing, reading and problem-solving, particularly in composition, literature, creative writing, and English as a second language courses and college writing centers. We actively seek pieces that describe transformative professional learning practices and effective classroom strategies, as well as opinion pieces that respond to the challenges and complexities of the community college teaching experience. Overall, our goal is to continually ask and investigate the question: how do we get better at what we do?
